Justin Muse is an enthusiastic, lifelong resident of Franklin County, VA. He’s a proud graduate of Ferrum College class of 2005 where he majored in sports management with an emphasis in journalism and sports information. Justin went on to earn his master’s in human services in executive leadership from Liberty University and now works at Ferrum College as the assistant director of admissions: recruitment & outreach.

What part of Franklin County do you live in? How long have you lived there?
I live in Rocky Mount and have been for over 15 years. I am originally from the Wirtz/Burnt Chimney area of the county where I grew up.
What’s your favorite park about living in Franklin County?
I love the area and the people. I believe it’s a combination of both that makes this place so special. I think Franklin County offers a lot of beautiful scenery and resources that we often take for granted.
What do you do for fun outside of work?
I love hanging out with family and friends and trying to enjoy life to the fullest. I love to bring my joy, excitement, and happiness to whomever or wherever I can
What’s your favorite place in Franklin County?
I don’t know if I have just one favorite place in Franklin County. But I will tell you this, I love the scenery around the county. I love taking the long way home and driving around Franklin County, especially through the mountains west end of the county. I do enjoy the breathtaking views Franklin County has to offer.
What advice do you have for finding or meeting new people?
Get out and connect with some organization of interest to you. Go out to visit a restaurant, or the Harvester, when a band or group is performing and be social. Step outside of your comfort zone and do something that you wouldn’t normally do. Be open to new experiences.
What professional groups/organizations are you involved in?
I serve on the Town of Rocky Mount Economic Development Authority Board, part of the Rocky Mount Sesquicentennial Committee, member of the Friends of the Pigg River Community Center, and the Franklin County NAACP.

Franklin County is a great place to live and play. We live in a place that has a very beautiful landscape and is populated by some great people. Franklin County is unique. We are growing and others are starting to discover who we are and what we have to offer.
